Our first Lincsus C‑Suite Strategic Network & Insights Event of 2026 brought together a highly engaged group of C‑Suite members, Strategic Partners, Lincsus Associate Companies, and a wide mix of business leaders from across Scotland and beyond. Hosted at Rathbones (Edinburgh office), the event delivered a day of insight, resilience‑focussed thinking and meaningful connection, essential qualities for leaders navigating an increasingly unpredictable landscape.
We began the day with a positive and focussed morning session exclusively for our Lincsus C‑Suite Partners, featuring a presentation and discussion with John Devine of BGF. The session explored funding pathways, growth strategy considerations, and the evolving landscape for scale‑up investment in the UK, setting a strong foundation for the afternoon programme.
The running theme across the event was clear for the wider afternoon session: Invest well. Plan well. Build the right foundations. Lead confidently through turbulent times.
1. Invest Well. Live Well
Simon Dewar – Senior Investment Director, Rathbones
Simon opened the afternoon with a grounded analysis of the Autumn Budget 2025 and the wider economic climate. With volatility, inflation and global shocks continuing to shape markets, Simon emphasised the importance of structured planning, diversification and long‑term discipline, a message that resonated strongly with those in the room.
2. Protecting Value While Growing
Babs (Barbara) Neilan – Founding Partner, Jamieson Law
Babs delivered a sharp and practical legal session, focusing on the essentials of protecting business value:
safeguarding intellectual property and trademarks
ensuring contracts remain fit‑for‑purpose as organisations grow
maintaining governance structures that evolve with the business
preparing early for sale, investment or exit
Her message to founders, CEOs and senior leaders was clear: your legal framework must grow as your business grows.
3. Growth Pains vs Growth Gains - panel discussion
Our panel featured two Lincsus C‑Suite leaders and two invited guests:
Jan Young – CEO, CHRO & NED, Lincsus C‑Suite
Catherine Bell – CEO, CHRO & NED, Mearns & Company, Lincsus C‑Suite
Paul Devoy – CEO, Investors in People
Matthew Leeper – Co‑founder & CEO, Silmaril
Together they explored the realities of scaling in 2026, highlighting:
the balance between people, process and practical tech
the importance of employee buy‑in to any change programme
the need for clear SMART objectives to anchor organisational performance
avoiding “AI hype” and instead choosing tools that support real operational improvement
It was an honest and open conversation that resonated strongly with leaders facing growth challenges.
4. Creating Predictable Revenue in an Unpredictable World
Aaron Ross – Author, Advisor & Lincsus C‑Suite Partner
To close, Aaron reframed how leaders should think about predictable revenue. While AI and automation can strengthen process and scale, human relationships, trust and consistent action remain at the centre of long‑term sales success. Technology enhances the system, but it’s people who make revenue predictable.
Networking rounded off the event, with the room buzzing as C‑Suite partners, strategic partners and associate companies connected, shared challenges and explored opportunities.
Key takeaways:
plan and invest with purpose
protect the value you create
keep people, process and tech aligned
build systems that support predictable performance
stay resilient in a volatile world
We now look forward to our April 2026 event.
